PIBF Launches “Mayaishat Ko Istehkam Do” Campaign to Strengthen Pakistan’s Economy
Lahore – The Pakistan International Business Forum (PiBF) has officially launched the “Mayaishat Ko Istehkam Do” (Strengthen the Economy) campaign in response to current economic challenges, including slow business activity, rising costs, and bureaucratic hurdles.
The PiBF Economy Think Tank has appointed Hafiz Mahmood Malik as Convener of the movement, with Tahir Raza serving as Co-Convener to oversee its implementation. The Think Tank has developed a five-point agenda to address the key structural issues affecting Pakistan’s economy, including:
- Persistently high interest rates
- Excessive taxation
- Elevated electricity tariffs
- Shortage of skilled labor
- Systemic barriers impacting ease of doing business
To support its proposals, the PiBF Economy Think Tank conducted a comparative review of business environments in South Asian countries such as China, India, and Bangladesh. The study highlights how effective policy reforms and improved regulatory frameworks in these nations have encouraged investment and sustained economic growth.
The forum believes that implementing similar measures in Pakistan could boost investor confidence and accelerate economic recovery. Under the “Mayaishat Ko Istehkam Do” campaign, the five-point agenda will be shared with business leaders, government officials, political stakeholders, and the public through seminars titled “Problems and Their Solutions” along with an organized social media outreach program.
PiBF emphasized that, in collaboration with the business community and citizens, the movement will ultimately advance under the broader slogan “Badal Do Nizam”, advocating reforms to modernize Pakistan’s governance and replace outdated bureaucratic systems.
